Soaring inflation has resulted in rising costs in Ethiopia and we simply cannot provide necessities for some of the poorest families in Shashemene. The Ukraine war, plus the two-year conflict in Northern Ethiopia have both massively impacted the prices of everyday essentials.
The price of flour has more than tripled. The price of oil has skyrocketed. Where we once were able to provide 75kg of flour, three litres of oil, salt and soap, we now can only provide 25kg of flour alone. Additionally, the price of clothing and school supplies have all risen at an alarming rate.
This crisis affects the most vulnerable in Shashemene, including our Sponsor Children and their families, our Group Homes and children in the Hope365 Academy breakfast and lunch programmes. We desperately need your help to provide for these vulnerable little ones.
£30 could provide three pupils with educational materials for a year.
£110 could feed a child their school meals for a whole year.
£250 could allow us to rescue and reunify a Street Kid with their family. (This includes admission to TMB Assessment Centre, family tracing, medical assessment and testing, clothing, shoes, a bed, three meals a day, psychological support, parental support and follow up).
Thank you for your generosity in supporting vulnerable children. We have been blown away by the support we have received, having smashed our target of £30,000. This appeal will be open until the end of April 2024, so if you would still like to give there is still time. Every gift will have an impact on a life in Ethiopia.
